Hey happiness..

Happiness.

Today I was reminded that we always have happiness and joy around us; but that we never notice it because everything else in our life is louder and demands more attention from us. Regardless, happiness is more beautiful than anything else, so why don’t we notice it more often?

I don’t know what brought this realisation to the forefront of my thoughts, but I realised that happiness was sitting around, waiting patiently for me to say hi. So I thought that today I would say hello to happiness where ever I noticed her shadow. As a result I noticed so much about happiness that I had simply forgotten.

I realised that happiness is waking up in the morning, taking a breath and being alive. It’s walking into work and knowing that despite all the challenges and unpleasantness, there are things which are invaluable to you, such as your colleagues, your contributions and your impact – whether it be big or small.
Happiness is noticing the people you love and cherish, like as though it’s the first time you’ve seen them. Kind of like love at first sight, except you now know it’s true love because you appreciate how important they are to you. It’s about appreciating that so many little things had to go right in everyones life to ensure that you’re all there together, blessed with each others presence. It’s understanding this blessing is fleeting but right now you’ve caught onto it; you’re aware of it, so make the most of it.

Happiness is knowing your best friends dream will soon come true and although she will be moving away from you, she will be pursuing her journey,  that will ultimately bring her joy and prosperity.

Happiness is about saying grace for having a job, food and clothes.

Happiness is knowing that you are healthy or as healthy as you are right now and that all the cells in your body go through a whole lot to make sure you are who you are.

Happiness is seeing the vulnerability in a stranger and giving them your love and acceptance. It’s about realising that you are not on your way to a destination, you’re on a journey and as long as you’re on a journey you have the power to influence and invite others along.

Happiness is going out of your way to meet your rolemodels and have a photo taken with them for you to keep forever, but at the same time not being disappointed that your expectations of them was unrealistic because despite being your rolemodel they too are human and susceptible to flaws and ego.

Happiness is about knowing that you could have stressed out today or gotten annoyed, but instead you decided to love yourself and your flaws as they are.

Happiness is always there, right where you are; inside of you, all of you. You just need to pause for a moment and reintroduce yourself to it and embrace it for what it is. Simple. Gentle. Subtle.

I hope that tomorrow I wake with the patience and courage to meet with happiness again. I hope we all do.

Love Always,

Miss Dreamer
