Home, where did you go?
I’ve been searching for you, you know..
I didn’t find you within the woods, or the trees,
I didn’t find you in the mountains or the seas,
I didn’t find you with food, comfort or fun
I didn’t find you down under, over or above,
I didn’t find you around the corner, at the pub or in a club
I didn’t find you in a workplace, in a classroom or out on a run
I didn’t find you after years of looking, oh where had you gone?
Home, you weren’t where I was born or where I had lived,
You had been gone for so many years I questioned if you even exist,
Then London called, saying you will be there,
So I got packing and made my way there,
I found you to be so warm, welcoming and kind,
You had been waiting for me all this time,
You were gentle but challenging, firm but fair,
You cherished my flaws, edges and curly hair,
You have welcomed me with so much care
Oh home, I’m sorry that I now must depart,
I will carry you with me in my heart,
I will always come back to you with a big embrace,
For you have given me a sense of belonging that can’t be replaced
I now know where you’ve set base
I won’t get lost this time, instead I will handle it with grace
Love Always,
Miss Dreamer
