Morning silence….

Have you paid attention to the silence that is around you in the morning?

The type that wraps around you like a blanket?

In the early mornings, there is a peace and quiet that brings with it wisdom and space.

If you spend a little bit of time in the silence, you will get to meet all the various parts of you that were trying to get your attention. If you focus in on the silence, you will notice that time is not linear and that nothing is permanent. In this space, you can hold your past, present and future in one moment. You can sense all the parts of you that often don’t get your attention amongst the hustle and bustle of the day.

This is why having morning rituals and waking up early can be so healing. When you rise out of bed at a time that most of the world is still asleep, you feel a sense of connection with the universe that you can’t usually attain throughout the day. A lot of learning, healing and peace can take place in moments like this. Nothing complex is needed, no perfection is welcome here, there is no judgement or pressure. This time of the morning is solely focused on helping you find alignment between your mind, body and soul.

Setting into place a morning ritual that is based on principle rather than activity will help you take the pressure off of any expectation. For example, instead of making it something like 15 minutes of yoga and 15 minutes of journalling you can apply the principle of spending some time moving my body and some time letting my creatively transfer the internal thoughts and emotions into an external output.

By doing this, you will be able to assess what your body needs each given day. I think where it becomes hard is for individuals who find the process of making new decisions more difficult than maintaining a routine. In that case, set your routine and apply structure. Each of us need to understand what works with our personalities. For someone like me, the idea of upholding structure and routine triggers my perfectionism and not my inner peace.

So I suppose my ultimate principle for my morning routine is to be kind, to let go of expectations and to just BE.

In the silence of the morning, you will discover so much about yourself. Give yourself this gift and you will see how it can heal you.

Love Always,
M
