What do you want?

Is this even a fair question to ask oneself? Isn’t the answer always altering and changing as you go through different evolutions of your life?

Sometimes what you wanted will become irrelevant to where you are in your life now. Do you continue to invest your time, energy and resources into chasing a destination that you wanted when you were at the start of the journey? Or do you recognise that quitting this path and following a new one is where you will find your fulfilment and ongoing growth?

It’s a hard one to answer, because if you change your destination then concepts such as commitment, perseverance and determination become somewhat redundant. But if you stick to your guns and go with the chosen path, you could be wasting a lot of energy and time on something that isn’t ultimately aligned with who you have become throughout the journey.

It’s a constant battle when you apply it to things like your career, relationships and life more broadly. There is an element of intrigue living a free life where you can float up and down with the winds as they blow towards you and know that the only thing that matters is that you’re flying, therefore the destination is irrelevant. But then there is also a level of security, comfort and satisfaction chasing the path that you’ve put all your hard efforts into and seeing it result in an outcome that you’ve envisioned for a very long time.

Both of these paths have their wins and both have their downs. There is no right or wrong choice here, it’s just a matter of knowing what sits best with you and if it is true to how you want to live your life. Perhaps we can alter between these two paths at different stages of our journey, in that way we won’t have to choose between the two, instead we can make the most of each path when it is relevant to our broader journey.

Who knows. I wonder which path is going to be of most service to me now.

Love Always,

M
