Sunday Prayer – Diversify the Self-Care

It’s so important to take the time to care for yourself and it’s important to pay attention to what you need and not just follow routines that you’ve set in place.

Diversifying your experiences is important, in order to nourish your mind, body and soul. Just like our bodies need different food groups to be fully nourished, our brain also craves different activities that will engage it in different ways. In turn our body and soul also feels enriched by the various experiences, in their own way. Knowing how to read yourself, so that you can identify what it is you have to do to take care of yourself requires experience and attention.

I didn’t realise until this weekend that even though I was trying to dedicate time to rest and self-care, I haven’t been paying attention to the type of activities that I was doing and therefore, I wasn’t able to meet the itch when it comes to my inner needs being met.

What I noticed is that I’m making the effort to do my exercise and or take the time to read and listen to podcasts, all of which I enjoy. I even take the time to write which I associate with creativity, but actually I’m craving a more colourful version of creativity as well as more movement that allows my body to experience rhythm not just challenge.

Activities that will help ignite different parts of my brain, my body and my soul. Like for example, watching a movie or a TV show that triggers various emotions that I haven’t felt for awhile, or dancing along to music and being silly, or taking the time to create something with my hands. This diversity of activity is necessary for that holistic self-care routine.

So this Sunday night, I pray that this week I will take little and big moments to indulge in various activities that will enable me to explore the parts of me that have become dormant.

I pray that I will take the opportunity to tune in with my brain to see what she needs, to tune in with my heart to know how she feels and tune in with my body to know if she’s nourished.

I pray that I will stay focused on the things that matter to me in my life instead of running towards the pressures and demands that are placed upon me from work and or others.

I pray that I will find a balance that brings me the most amount of joy and the ability to relish in it, knowing that life is too short to be taken seriously.

I pray that I let go of all the claims that feed my ego and release all beliefs that limit me.

I pray that I can be present, here now and therefore, free from all that disables me from being at peace.

What do you need to do for you?

Love Always,

M
