The body needs love…

Waves of emotions they come and go but the numbness of depression dampens it all. There is a lot of unresolved feelings that need to be released, there are a lot of external factors that are putting strain on my mind, feelings and experiences. On this journey I’m not alone, all of us have our own story, full of ups and downs. There is no need to compare who has it better or worse, there is just a matter of honouring your own story and not hiding behind the shame and guilt that we feel due to how we experience things.

We are all going through various challenges and if that results in our mental health being implicated, then rather than spending energy on hiding it or neglecting it, we have to find the will and courage to try and tackle it with support, love and kindness. I’m in a dip at the moment, the depression and stress levels I am experiencing are both severe, indicating to me that my body is screaming out for help.

I’ve been here before and I know that I need to make better choices that will help me heal and get through this dip. One of these choices is letting go of the thoughts that aren’t kind and or put me down. Recognising that I can change the soundtrack of my narratives, is the first step for cutting myself loose from them. This isn’t the same as resisting and or avoiding your thoughts and feelings. Rather, it’s about being compassionate and patient with them so that I can observe the wisdom that they’re sharing with me.

This is life, if it’s always constant then it would be like a heart that no longer beats. All experiences aren’t equal in their impact and effect, but we always have more control and resources than we realise. If we continue to go deep within we can find the endless resources of joy, peace, love and bliss. But it’s important to bring the body on this journey because ultimately it is the body that is experiencing the dip and so it needs our help to get through turbulence with ease. When you are taking care of the body you don’t have to go all out, you just need to be consistent. It’s not perfection that gets you results rather it’s your dedication and continuous effort.

So no matter how hard it gets, one small step, one intentional breath, one pause in your day is enough for you to align your body and your consciousness, even just for one moment. Just don’t give up on yourself, because you’re worthy of the good times.

Love yourself.

Love Always,

M
