This pandemic has brought about so many experiences that ignite feelings of pain, grief, fear, loss, despair, anxiety, stress, worry, sorrow and whatever else that may have been on our journey. But it also has allowed for moments of hope, optimism, joy, gratitude, blessings, growth, kindness, compassion, resilience and whatever else may have come up. These are the cards that we’ve been dealt with, this is the game we’re playing. There is the bad and there is the good, but this has always been life; I suppose we’re just hyper aware of all these contrasting feelings because of the disruption the pandemic has caused.
In the midst of adversity, the most powerful choice we have is that of acceptance and letting go. I struggle with this personally because I find it hard to believe that I am worthy enough to be loved and cared for. Love and trust go hand in hand, it’s hard to trust when you don’t think you’re loved. But when you start accepting that you are worthy, you are loved and that you can trust you become better at letting go. A lot of people confuse trusting the universe with getting everything they want and or living a comfortable life. But in my experience trusting that you’re cared for just translates into being able to see the beauty in the midst of the pain. Like an abstract painting that you can only fully appreciate when you stop analysing it and instead start allowing wonder and creativity to open your heart to what it is showing you.
Our lives are like that abstract painting, we try so hard to analyse every single stroke, colour and shape without realising that if we take a step back and just BE with the painting we can truly embrace what it’s trying to show us. That is the power of art and that is the power of life. When you can step out of your mind and into your body, so much of life opens up to you. You can start to accept that you can trust that you are loved, because you are worthy. The more you learn that the more you learn to let go and appreciate that perseverance, grit and resilience doesn’t always mean resistance.
So take a step back and be with the abstract painting that is your life, let it bring about the emotions that it does and know that like all art there is no right or wrong or good and bad, it’s just art. Like most abstract paintings, our lives are an endless pit of wonder, with each observation they expand and show us more and more.
Let it go and let it be.
Love Always,
M
