What do you choose..

How do you want to be in the world? What’s guiding the response to this question?

There is so much that we do on auto pilot, so when you meet individuals who are purposeful, deliberate and aware, it is really inspiring to see. Most of us don’t even know what our values are, let alone making decisions that are aligned to them. We don’t often get up in the morning thinking about how do we want to feel today and how do we want to make others feel? Many of us get up with frustrations, stressors and lack of motivation. Perhaps that is the result of the fast paced world that we have created, or perhaps it’s the outcome of the social contexts we’ve set.

We’re never taught to be deliberate. But what if we woke up every day seeking the miracles in our lives, the privileges that are denied to so many of us. The blessings that we have in abundance, but which we take for granted because we’ve not known life any other way. What if the first thing we did was to realise that we have awaken and that we get another shot at this gift called life? Even when there is a lot of external pressures and a lot of weight on our shoulders, life is still a gift. But it takes a lot of work and a lot of effort to recognise that and to stay in that space.

I know I keep forgetting, I keep falling into the mental traps that make me focus my attention and energy onto the stressors, the pressures, the must do’s, the responsibilities, the expectations, the fears etc. None of this serves me, none of this makes my life any brighter, nicer and or lighter. It creates a whole bundle of reasons to fall into depression, to be fearful, to be angry, anxious, irritable and unpleasant. I’m not suggesting that everyone experiences things the way that I do. I can only share my perception and experience of the world and from what I’ve seen through my profession, through my exposure to society and through my interactions with others I feel as though most of us experience a level of this in some shape or form throughout our life.

Those of us who break through the noise, who stay in the high vibrations, who focus on the things that bring them joy, they’re the ones who are truly alive. Even when going through hard times, there is a way to accept reality for what it is and know that this too shall pass. You don’t have to be happy and you don’t have to be high energy all the time. But you do need to decide, do you choose high vibrations and will you seek the beauty? Or will you surrender to the weight, the darkness and the pain because it’s you feel like you have no choice?

These are hard questions to ask, they’re even harder to answer. But these are important things to reflect on in order to understand how we want to be in the world. How do we want to make others feel and what do we really want to experience. Once you are clear about that, then you can start finding the right ways of getting yourself through the detail of life. With love, with support, with knowledge, with care, with kindness and with a whole heap of trial and error.

All of us have the ability to tap into the consciousness that is deep within, it takes practice and it’s not something that we will all experience in the same way. But it’s there if we are curious enough to seek it. Once you find it then you will know that behind all the thoughts, the fears, the stressors the pain, the loss, the physical and material experiences lies the truth. There is no word for describing the truth in my view, it’s just a knowing which you come to realise through briefly encountering it on your quest.

It’s hard work, but like I’ve always said it’s worth it.

Love Always,

M
