What is beauty? What is confidence? What will it take for a woman to love herself and her body? What will it take to be enough? What will be required for us to let go of the materialistic and superficial and sink into the depth and warmth of our hearts, creativity and souls?
What do we need to know? What do we need to feel? What is it that needs to be given to us and what needs to be taken away? What happens for a girl to lose all her sense of self worth and see her body as an object utilised for pleasure? What happens for a girl to decide that abandoning her health, strength and energy is worth the praise that comes from conformity? What do we lose in ourselves when we put in so much effort to become what we believe society and others deem desirable, beautiful, attractive and sexy?
What world have we created? What is it that we’re chasing and what are we trying to avoid? What are we hoping for and what are we afraid of? What is the meaning of all this pain and suffering? What is it that the beauty and fashion industry are selling? What lies are we believing and what truths are we forgetting? What toxic beliefs are growing and what empowering thoughts are being weeded out?
What is it that we desire? What drives the need for makeup and nice clothes? What of belonging, accepting and loving do we want? What happened in our history that the greed and lust of men has become the moral compass of the world? What happened to critical thought? What happened to joy and where did it get lost? What will it take for us to wake up? What will it take for us to look at ourselves in the mirror and think I’m a goddess, a queen, a masterpiece? What will it take to feel enough? What will it take for short, tall, thin, wide, large, bulky and all other shapes to be seen as awesome figures and not as boxing bags for cruel comments?
When did being unkind and cruel taint the tone of the language we use? When did we find ridicule more interesting than encouragement? What on earth happened to raising each other up? What did we need to do differently to find ourselves on a different path? What do we need to do now to empower each girl to know her worth and her value, not in the context of a role but in the context of being? What do we need to do for mean words to disappear? What do we need to do to challenge our thoughts?
What do we need to do to redefine it all? Who needs to stand up and scream enough is enough? When will the anthems that we sing be the markers of our beliefs? What kind of gift can I give you so that you can open your heart? What will it take to feel the love that you’re given? What do you need to stop comparing? What will it take for you dear one, to feel safe?
What will it take for our humanity to return? What will it take for beauty to be not of what we create through all the alterations but rather for it to be defined by our authentic flaws? What will it take? What will help you heal?
Love Always,
Marjan
