Watch your mind…

Whatever you spend your energy and time on you are cultivating. That doesn’t mean you always have to be productive or that you have to be in the act of ‘doing’, but it it does serve as a reminder to be conscious of your choices and moments. One of the most critical areas of life that deserves attention is the quality of our thoughts. The degree in which we love ourselves, others and our lives is largely dependent on the type of thoughts we are having and what we do with them when they’re not serving us.

We can’t eliminate the ego nor the bad thoughts, so with that in mind, there is no point resisting them or punishing ourselves when they’re not enabling us to be our ‘best’ versions. So, where does that leave us? In freedom and liberation. If you realise that you are the ultimate observer of life you start to recognise that the external world is just a series of elements that move you towards certain energies and paths and that what dictates your joy, peace and being is the internal responses you show to these elements.

I suppose this is where spirituality and philosophy comes in. Asking yourself the question of ‘Who am I’ and exploring the answers that arise for you throughout the various seasons of your life. As the observer you have the ability to decide how to navigate the cards that are being dealt to you. That doesn’t mean you won’t react to life and or that you will no longer feel the pain or the pressures; but you choose the extent to which they create disruption in your internal world.

Just because we can choose our reactions it doesn’t mean we can eliminate parts of our human experience. We need to strike the right balance between feeling things and not identifying with them. It’s a very hard thing to do, in particular if you haven’t been practicing observation.

Choose what you spend your time and mind on wisely. Joy is not what lies on the outside but about how calm and peaceful things are on the inside. One breath at a time, practice every day and you will find yourself turning the leaf on the chapters of your Soul Journey.

Love Always,
M
