Winter is coming and the cold weather along with the dark sky is a reminder that life is full of ebbs and flows. That there is beauty in discomfort, only if you stop and appreciate it. That there is always going to be moments where the warmth will hide itself from you, but knowing it’s right there behind the cold gives you the resilience you need to persevere.
When you look back on your life how many winters have you had?
How hard did you fight against accepting the space it was giving you to rest?
I for one have not paid much attention to winter. Instead I’ve always tried my best to maintain the same energy levels, activity and progress that I have throughout the year. But now I have come to appreciate that winter is the most important chapter of all. The hibernation allows your mind to settle, your body to rest and your soul to replenish. Trusting natures rhythm to guide you as you grow through your life is an important factor in how smoothly your journey will go.
Swimming against the tide when there is frost is painful. Allow yourself the grace, space and stillness you need to settle into these months and reflect on how far you’ve come, instead of worrying about how far you’ll go. Be here in the now, with the cold and the cool air that reminds you that you’re alive. Be here to notice the trees sleep, nature slow down and time become still. Be here to witness the darkness mask the light, playing hide and seek and testing your faith in the sun. Be here for it all, be here. Make the most of this situation so that you too can settle.
So, on that note I will take my hot cup of coffee and find a cosy space to look out on the frosty roofs and the foggy clouds as I let go of the leaves I have been carrying around this year.
Love Always,
M
